Safe Bay, not entirely safe
Problems continue at Salvation army’s “Safe Bay”. Since I have stayed there, I have seen people threatened with physical violence. People have been thrown out for smoking dope. Property has been lost. It is this last thing which I want to address more than anything.
There are no lockers for storing things at safe harbor. People must keep all of their possesssions on them. This includes the time during which they sleep. Last night, someone lost their cellphone. It created a huge disturbance as the individual was rightly upset this morning at the disappearance of their possessions. The response was the typical, ‘We’re not responsible for lost or stolen items’ mantra that is so typical. Safe Bay should just admit they are not responsible at all. The failure to provide guests with lockers to store items is completely irresponsible and contributes to an unsafe environment for everyone.
